Autumn in Beijing, the sky is high and the air is slightly cool, taking advantage of this 11th holiday, just right for an excursion full of historical weight. Today's destination is a place that almost everyone who comes to Beijing will visit - the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall.
When I left in the morning, the sun was shining through the thin clouds on the streets and alleys with a hint of warmth. I came out from Exit D of the Tiananmen East Subway Station, and my eyes were immediately attracted by the long queue in front of me.
Don't be in a hurry, but look carefully when you exit the station, this is the first tip. The square is crowded with people, and there is more than one queue, so if you're not careful, you'll get into the National Museum of China's queue by mistake. If you're not sure where to line up, it's always a good idea to ask a passerby. Today, on a special day, Exit D was closed, so I left the station through Exit C. After leaving the station, I followed the direction of the queue and found the Tiananmen Square queue without any problem. After the security check, the Memorial Hall is not far away.
At 11:45 a.m., I stepped on the line to pay homage to Chairman Mao. I heard that the morning line is particularly long, many people will come early to line up, but I found that if the card to 12:00 noon or so to the door, although a lot of people, but not as long as three hours in line. Don't listen to those small advertisements that "send you to the last barrier by car", in fact, it is just to send you to the west entrance, more detours, very uneconomical.
When lining up, the tourists around the quiet and orderly, people do not hold too many things in hand, this is the second tip to pay attention to. When entering the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, things like cameras, cups of water can not be brought in, with a cell phone is good, other items can be stored in the red hut next to the security check. With the toilet on the left and the Great Hall of the People on the right, the signs are obvious, and it's not difficult to find the storage point.
Although the queue seems to go around three times, the queue is actually very fast, and each person has almost only about five minutes to look at the memorial hall, and the queuing time passes very quickly.
The moment you enter the Hall of Remembrance, the solemn atmosphere is awe-inspiring, and all footsteps seem to be muffled, as if everyone is using a silent way to express their respect for history and great people. Photographs and videos are not allowed here, so everyone consciously obeyed the rules and paid their respects quietly.
Walking out of the Memorial Hall, the sun was still shining brightly in the square, and volunteers were handing out commemorative tickets outside the Memorial Hall. Getting a ticket as a souvenir to commemorate this touching experience across time was a perfect ending to this trip.
